Manager, Editorial Systems (Research Publishing / Editorial)

Employment Type

: Full-Time

: Media

The world of academic research publishing is transforming rapidly into a fully digital environment, underpinned by the principles of Open Access. Wiley’s Research division has been at the forefront of that transformation - by constantly innovating and adapting our business models and processes to meet the changing needs of stakeholders throughout the entire submission, peer review, editorial and publishing life-cycles.

The result is a complex, global ecosystem involving multiple internal and external interfaces. This demands a rigorous approach to data integrity and accuracy, and specialist expertise to navigate successfully.

This position plays a key role, by providing consultative expertise and guidance to journal editors and administrators, on the configuration and use of online submission systems, and advising on the functions and capabilities of Wiley’s Electronic Editorial Office (EEO) systems. You will decide which editorial system is best for a particular journal, take a leading role in setting up new journal sites, and collaborate in determining which features and capabilities should be implemented across Wiley’s portfolio of journals. The role does not involve direct (level 1) customer support.

Previous experience in a similar role in a publishing organisation and existing technical knowledge of a particular editorial system (e.g., ScholarOne and Editorial Manager) is useful, but not essential. In fact, we‘d value a fresh perspective gained in a completely different context - perhaps in a role outside the publishing world, which involves business process analysis, technical solutions consulting or similar.

Whatever your background and experience, to be considered you’ll need:

-Advanced analytical and critical reasoning skills

-To be comfortable working in a complex, matrixed, global corporate environment

-Fluency in written and spoken English (able to write accurately about complex, technical topics)

-Experience of consulting with diverse groups of internal and external stakeholders to identify and analyse needs

-Examples of how you’ve successfully translated those needs into coherent, commercially viable technology solutions, and best practice recommendations

-A proven track record of using consultative and relationship building skills to maintain successful, long term partnerships

This role will close for applications on the 17th July 2020
