Position Summary

The Logos Student Newspaper Editorial Assistant assists the supervising editors with production of The Logos.

This position is funded by the Federal Work-Study program and is open to UIW students who are approved and eligible to participate in the Federal Work-Study Program.

The start date for this position may be contingent upon reopening of the UIW campus.

Essential Functions

-Cover campus assignments;
-Write stories;
-Take photographs;
-Lay out pages;
-Monitor telephone (answer, take messages, etc.);
-General clerical duties;
-Distribute newspapers;
-Promote newspaper;
-Update interactive website;
-Perform other duties as assigned by Logos student editors and/or adviser (supervisor)

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

-Demonstrate (writing, editing, design, photography, etc.);
-Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
-Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA

Required Education

Current full-time UIW student approved and eligible to participate in the Federal Work-Study program with a GPA of 2.5, with a 3.0 in the major discipline

Required Work Experience

No required work experience necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Preference given to students with previous high school or college journalistic experience (newspaper, yearbook, magazine, anthology, broadcasting class, website, etc.)

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations Work Hours

Work hours flexible depending on student’s academic and extracurricular schedules.
