Responsibilities

  • Develop and edit content for use in various Pediatric Neuroscience publications, grant applications, presentations, recruiting materials, and other documents.
  • Manage and maintain a database of publications and presentations by faculty and staff members.
  • Edit documents including journal articles, book chapters, grant applications, and IRB applications. Obtain permission to republish material as needed. Submit all required materials as required by each journal or funding agency. Validate and format manuscript references prior to manuscript submission. Assist with post-publication publicity.
  • Prepare a periodic internal newsletter that includes program news, awards, resident information, clinical trial information, and social information.
  • Serve as a marketing liaison to the Dell Medical School and UT Health Austin communication teams. Assist in the generation of content for the Dell Med and UTHA website and social media platforms.
  • Provide administrative support for UT Trademark Office requests, graphic design requests, and tracking of expenses for both special projects and budget management.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree and at least four years of related experience as a professional biomedical editor. Experience in the preparation of biomedical journal articles, technical documents, and multimedia content. Experience working in a higher education, scientific environment. Knowledge of biomedical journal publication procedures. Ability to understand scientific and technical topics and translate them for lay public expression. Ability to work individually and in groups to improve communication for the Program. Excellent written and verbal communications skills, reliable attention to detail, and outstanding interpersonal skills. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered as appropriate.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience as a biomedical editor in a clinical neuroscience discipline. Strong working knowledge of social media. Familiarity with the publication styles of relevant scientific journals; familiarity with the American Medical Association Manual of Style. Experience with content management systems. Forward-looking and creative thinker. Professional, positive problem solving skills.
