For too long, the writers, editors, reviewers, and illustrators who create our digital assets have been mostly White, an implicit bias that hampers our ability to achieve this mission. To that end, we are looking for an Editorial Advisor of Diversity and Inclusion to work with stakeholders across Dotdash to ensure that our content is truly representative and useful for everyone.

About You

  • Deep understanding of the Black American experience including the underlying social and historical factors that impact BIPOC today
  • Experience reviewing and remediating content and illustrations across a wide range of topics and media for issues of representation, implicit, and explicit bias
  • Extremely strong oral and written communications skills; effective trainer and educator

  • About Your Contributions

  • In collaboration with the Growth and Content teams, hire a cross-functional, diverse Anti-Bias Review Board (ABRB) to analyze and recommend updates to our existing body of evergreen content to ensure we both address and celebrate the needs of a diverse audience
  • Assist in the training, ongoing education, and development of both contract and internal staff
  • Establish workflow processes for review and editing of all newly created content by the ABRB
  • Assist in the writing of guidelines for each of our brands

  • An Important Note

    The objective of this new role is to help ensure our content services people of all races, genders, ages, abilities, and sexual orientations. While solving the complex challenges facing the Black and Brown communities is not something our content can accomplish directly, we aspire to go beyond cosmetic changes, recognizing that we can empower people to ask the right questions and take strong next steps by providing the right information. 

    We will review both the substance of our content, and the way it is communicated, for bias. We expect many changes, particularly in the areas of ‘your money and your life’ content to be significant, recognizing the historic and deeply ingrained inequities faced by BIPOC.
