The Steward is responsible for transporting and cleaning cooking utensils and serviceware in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service. Specifically, the Steward is responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards: Wash dishes and operate the dishwasher to clean all chinaware, silverware and cooking utensils Scrub pots and pans Burnish, de-tarnish and polish silver Stock and maintain supplies and equipment Perform cleaning duties including, but not limited to, mopping and removing trash Transport and store clean serviceware Perform deep cleaning tasks and special projects as needed Prepare and place clean serviceware for events and functions The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Ability to understand and follow written and or verbal instructions. Ability to effectively communicate verbally in English. Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information. Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise move dish tubs, racks, and carts up to 100 lbs. continuously throughout shift. Ability to stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions. Sufficient manual dexterity in both hands to be able to load and unload dishes and silverware. Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances on property. Other: The hotel functions seven (7) days a week and twenty-four (24) hours per day.
