Dotdash is seeking an Editorial Assistant (Contract) to help us take the content of our health brands, Verywell Fit, Verywell Family, and Verywell Mind, to the next level. We are looking for a digitally savvy content enthusiast with a passion for all things health and wellness. The Editorial Assistant will work with the Verywell team to improve editorial content and user experience to ultimately grow traffic and increase audience engagement.

About Your Contributions

  • Review, edit, and publish new content from freelance writers to make sure our best practices are met.
  • Manage our Review Board process to ensure articles are verified by board-certified physicians and other credible health and wellness experts.
  • Brainstorm new content ideas based on current trends, competitive landscape, and evergreen opportunities.
  • Curate and promote relevant content across site landing pages.
  • Assess articles for visual assets (photography, illustration, infographics etc.) and work with our visual asset team to execute your ideas.
  • Share editorial feedback and best practices with freelance writers and editors.
  • Source and onboard new freelance writers, editors, and reviewers for our family of sites.
  • Work with the editorial and SEO teams on projects with the goal of improving overall content quality and user experience.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including commerce, design, video, email, and social to enhance overall content and help better answer readers’ questions.
  • Support GM and Editorial Director in differentiating our verticals from others in the marketplace.
  • About You

  • Proactive, creative, flexible team player with a good sense of humor and entrepreneurial energy, able to roll with the punches and take ownership in a fluid and fast-moving environment
  • Passionate about all things health and wellness and always eager to share and learn more
  • Detail oriented, deadline focused, with impeccable writing and editing skills
  • 1–2 years experience in a related digital content role or internship
  • Operating experience with content management systems, web analytics tools, and SEO best practices
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in journalism or communications a major plus
