KPLC began broadcasting in the summer of 1954 and is consistently one of the nation's most innovative and most-watched television stations, ranking among the top 5 Nielsen-rated stations nationally throughout the year. JOB SUMMARYSouthwest Louisiana’s KPLC-TV seeks a degreed meteorologist to join the First Alert Weather team. The ideal candidate will keep Southwest Louisiana updated with accurate forecasts and current conditions. You’ll use the latest products from Weather Central/WSI to provide forecasts across multiple platforms. In addition to meteorologist duties, you’ll serve as a web content producer and video journalist. A bachelor’s degree in meteorology or atmospheric sciences from an accredited institution is required for this position. A background in journalism and/or mass communications is also preferred GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES The primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:• Analyze weather data and prepare an accurate forecast• Use WSI graphic systems to create content supporting the forecast• Cover severe and breaking weather situations across all platforms• Post weather content to station website, social media accounts, and apps• Flexibility in scheduling to cover severe weather or fill-in for other weather team members•Shoot, write and edit weather related and occasional non-weather content for all platforms

Requirements:

*Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology required*Ability to work effectively within a team environment and interact with all personnel within the organization*Candidate must also have a good driving record, valid driver’s license and the ability to pass drug screening.
