Job Summary: WLBT-TV is looking for a passionate and energetic Sports Reporter/MMJ who knows how to go after the big, “local” sports story. We are committed to big coverage of college and high school sports. While we cover these schools regularly, we don’t want someone who only covers professional and college sports or reads national highlights. We’re looking for a creative, outgoing sports journalist who knows how to put together compelling, LOCAL sports stories and features. The ideal candidate will be an independent thinker, self-starter and team player who is ready to work with a large newsroom and be able to communicate effectively with management, staff and our WLBT viewers. General Responsibilities (include but not limited to): -Serve as the primary sports talent. Will include in studio and field reporting-Coordinate our Friday football coverage and show-Shoot, write and edit sports stories and highlights with an emphasis on covering local sports -Be sports content driven, this is your beat. Own it-Write and post sports stories on multiple social media and digital platforms -Report live from various sporting events

Requirements:

-Degree in journalism, broadcasting, communications or related field -At least 2 years of professional newsroom experience preferred-An engaging and comfortable on-air personality -The ability and desire to enterprise and produce local sports stories and content -Excellent communicator -Team player with a positive attitude -Anchoring, reporting, producing experience preferred Please apply online at https://gray.tv/careers#currentopenings
