This is a critical position within Westchester Specialty Group's Finance team, responsible for the ongoing financial planning, financial analysis, and financial reporting processes across the division's eight business practice towers. This comprehensive role will support and interact with various functions including underwriting, operations, actuarial, sales, and reinsurance.

* Consolidate all planning and forecasting activities across the divisions business unit(s)
* Communicate/coordinate with business leaders to gather pertinent information
* Compile and review detailed plan/forecast inputs and updates
* Utilize various systems and sources to gather data for inputs/adjustments
* Maintain and improve data element mappings and modeling calculations
* Ensure accuracy and transparency of data at a detailed level
* Assist with annual/strategic plans and continuous forecast development
* Compile metrics and analysis on various portions of the P&L including Premium, Reinsurance, Commissions and Expenses.
* Provide business leaders with relevant, timely, and impactful financial and metric data to inform business decisions
* Provide timely, insightful responses to questions and requests
* Prepare monthly commentary on financial statements for the business leaders providing clear and accurate descriptions of the significant events impacting the monthly /quarterly results
* Gather/prepare documentation to support unusual activity, trends or occurrences and inform divisional personnel of the findings. Continue to follow up on issues until completion.
* Provide accurate, clear and concise reporting to the WSG and Corporate Finance management on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis so informed business decisions can be made
* Maintain and update queries and reports from multiple systems
* Build reporting packages to adapt to changing business needs
* Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and effectiveness of reporting
* Assist in the development of business reports and provide support to related users
* Liaise with IT, Analytics, Underwriting, and Actuarial to resolve issues and improve data quality
* Identify opportunities for process efficiencies and improvements
* Assist in the monthly and quarterly accounting close process
* Enhance current operations and procedures, with a strong focus on continuous improvement of automation and evolution of best practices

Technical Skills and Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting/Finance/Business or other related fields of study
* CPA or MBA preferred
* 5 - 8 years of relevant experience with a large public company in an accounting or financial analysis role, or experience with a large or Big 4 firm in an auditing role
* Insurance industry experience preferred, with in-depth knowledge of Insurance Financials
* Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail
* Strong problem solving skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make solid recommendations
* Ability to understand relationships and interactions between financial data and business results
* Proficiency in end-user applications (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
* Experience with TM1 and with cubes and relation-based databases (Hyperion, Cognos, Essbase, Access, SQL, SAS)
* Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present information in differing degrees of detail and form depending on the audience
* Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization, while building positive relationships
* Experience with Property and Casualty Reinsurance
* Must demonstrate an orientation to results
